Aang
Aang is the primary antagonist in the avatar the last airbender series. He is seen as the last avatar incarnate. Being a reluctant hero all through, Aang is seen as a care free loving character whose vegetarian lifestyle and pacifist nature expose his love for the world and life which is a primary virtue in Buddhism. Aang’s character is seen as playful and only gets serious during danger or crisis.
Katara
Katara is the only remaining water bender from the tribe of southern water after an attack by southern raiders who kidnapped all the water benders in the previous tribe years. Having saved Aang with the help of Sokka, she teaches Aang about water bending with the water bending art she had mastered since she was 15 years old. Katara is a heroine who is protective all through using her perfect water bending skills.
Sokka
Sokka is a 16 year old brother to Katara. After rescuing Aang with her sister, he discovers that Aang is the avatar and accompanies him to aid in his quest to fight the fire lord. Although he has no water bending skills, he is seen as a perfect warrior all through the series. He also wields the Meteor Sword.
Zuko
Zuko who was the primary antagonist changes to be the protagonist in the series. Although he tries to capture Aang severally, he only manages to capture him the last time but Aang escapes. He later becomes Aangs friend and a semi competent fire bender.

The Series Synopsis
In the series, four kingdoms dominate the world that is the fire, water, air and earth kingdoms. Each kingdom is represented by powers and elements it possesses. Under Avatar supervision, the four kingdoms have lived in and coexisted peacefully. With Avatar supervision, there is a link to the spirit world and therefore the only being that is capable of mastering all the four skills and elements.
After the disappearance of avatar Aang, the fire kingdom launches an invasion to eliminate all the members of Air nomads in an attempt to avoid any interference of the fire kingdom’s future plans and hopes of dominating the world. Over 100 years, Lord Ozai who is the fire lord of the fire kingdom continues to conquer and hold captive anyone with any elemental bending skills in water and earth kingdoms.
Katara and Sokka, siblings from the southern water tribe find a mysterious boy who was trapped in an ice berg outside their village during a food hunt. Katara and Sokka decide to save the trapped boy who then reveals to be Aang the avatar who was the last of the nomads from the air kingdom. Katara and Sokka accompany Aang to the north water kingdom to master waterbending skills and fulfil his dream of restoring peace once again to the world.
However, as they reach their goal, Aang, Sokka and Katara must conquer or evade Lord Ozai’s exile son Zuko, The military leader of the fire nation Commander Zhao and evil fire lord himself. On their quest, Aang is kidnapped by Lord Ozai’s team and Zuko’s uncle Iroh makes a few tests on the boy to confirm that he was the one. He is amazed and confesses that he is honoured to be in the presence of Aang. However, with the perfect airbending moves, Aang escapes from Zuko and his team in the ship and lands on the ice cliff where Appa was as Zuko watches in disbelief. Aang is captured again by Zuko but still makes to escape again. Later, Zuko joins team with Aang to defeat the fire lord after the growing poor relationship with Zhao leads to enemity.
