Overview

Samurai also know as bushi or buke were members of the military nobility of medieval and early-modern Japan. They abide by “bushido” a set of rules. Samurai literally make up less than 10% of Japan’s population. Their teachings can still be found today in the modern world.

Armor

Yoroi the first type of armor worn by samurai evolved from the armor of the Japanese warriors of the seventh century. Yoroi was made from small iron or leather scales known as kozane. The scales and strips were linked together with usually silk to complete the chest armor.

Plate armor then became the staple in 1500s. This new iron plated armor was refereed to as Tosei Gusoku also known as modern armor. This armor set know also protected more parts of the samurai’s body. The helmet called Kabuto played a major role in protection.
